Frequently Asked Questions

How can we help you?

Who are we and what do we believe in?

We are called the Immanuel Church, and we believe in the Trinity – that is, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Our belief is rooted in the Bible, particularly in John 3:16, which states that “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This verse underscores our faith in the redemptive power of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for humanity.

What time is your service and in what language?
Our church service is designed to cater to the diverse needs of our congregation, and is conducted in both Tamil and English languages. This helps us to ensure that all members of our community, including children, can fully participate and engage in our worship. As for the time of our service, we start at 9:30am.
What do you offer for the Children and Youths?

At Immanuel Church, we strongly believe in the importance of nurturing and developing the spiritual growth of our children and youths. In accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ, we provide a range of activities and programs that are specifically designed for them.

For children and youths, we offer a special service once a month, where they can learn about worship, play instruments, and receive the word of God from a young adult. Additionally, we have Sunday school classes for children under the age of 12, where they can learn about Bible stories, memorize verses, and participate in coloring activities. Our youths, on the other hand, listen to the word of God with the rest of the congregation.

We also organize youth meetings where we invite Christian young adults from outside the church to share their testimonies, providing an opportunity for our youths to learn from and be inspired by their experiences.

Furthermore, we are actively involved in outreach programs to spread the love of Christ and his Gospel, as commanded by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20. We aim to teach all nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost while teaching them to observe all the commandments that Jesus has given us.

We are committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for our children and youths to grow and develop their faith, while also serving as ambassadors of Christ in our community.

Are the volunteers or teachers dealing with children CRB checked?

We take the safety and well-being of the children in our care extremely seriously, and we understand that this is a top priority for parents and guardians. That’s why we make sure that all of our volunteers and teachers who work with children have undergone a thorough background check through the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau).

Additionally, we ensure that all our volunteers and teachers are safe-guarding trained and familiar with the best practices for ensuring the safety and protection of the children in our care. We believe in maintaining a secure and safe environment that fosters the spiritual growth and development of our children and youths.

Moreover, we also have trained first aiders who are available on-site in case of any emergencies or accidents. We want parents and guardians to be able to entrust their children’s safety and well-being to us with confidence, knowing that we have taken all necessary precautions to ensure their protection.

Who are the Pastors and Leaders in church?

At Immanuel Church, we are blessed to have a devoted and passionate pastor who leads us in our spiritual journey. Our pastor is Brother Phillip Chandran, who has completed his Theological education, committed to spreading the message of God’s love and grace to all who seek it, and his leadership has been instrumental in guiding our church community towards greater spiritual growth and fulfillment.

In addition to our pastor, we are also fortunate to have Sister Carol Chandran, his wife, who serves alongside him in ministry. Together, they are a source of inspiration and guidance for our church community, providing spiritual counsel and support to those in need.

We believe that our pastor and leaders are an essential part of our church community, and we are grateful for their dedication and commitment to serving God and helping us grow in our faith.

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

He is both fully God and truly human. Jesus entered fully into human experience. He endured temptation and he suffered and died. He was perfectly obedient to God his father.

Jesus took on himself the consequences of human sin. He died and was buried. On the third day he rose from the dead bodily and is now exalted as ruler over all.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.

What is the meaning and origin of the word church?

The visible church is the gathering of believers around Christ in his word.

It is a community of people intended by God to bear witness to him and actively seek the extension of his rule. Therefore within its community both men and women are to seek proper expression of their gifts as they work to build the church in love.

The Bible makes clear that in church leadership, as in marriage, the roles of men and women are not interchangeable. So we are committed to expressing the differences within relationships of mutual dependence.

What is the importance of Christian baptism?

Christian baptism by full immersion is an important practice in the Christian faith. It symbolises a person’s commitment to following Jesus Christ and their desire to be cleansed of sin and to live a new life in Christ.

Full immersion baptism represents a person’s death to their old way of life and their rebirth as a new creation in Christ. The act of being fully immersed in water symbolises the washing away of sin and the beginning of a new life in Christ.

Furthermore, baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. It is a way for believers to publicly proclaim their commitment to following Jesus and to identify themselves as members of His church.

Baptism by full immersion is also an act of obedience to Jesus Christ’s command to be baptised. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus instructed His disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

In summary, Christian baptism by full immersion is an important practice in the Christian faith as it symbolises a person’s commitment to following Jesus Christ, their desire to be cleansed of sin and to live a new life in Christ, and their public declaration of faith and obedience to Christ’s command.
